Check the change in your balance.

Compare an Egg purchase with the next Zone requirement.

Collect toward that goal and recheck after spending.
Start with one collection cycle
Collect until your Coin balance changes. Read the balance before and after collecting so you can see what progress looks like in your current area.
Make your first hatch deliberate
Open an Egg option and read the displayed cost before confirming a hatch. Check your Pet collection afterwards to see what was added. Use the result shown in your game rather than expecting a particular Pet.
Check the next Zone before spending again
Look at the next Zone entrance and its displayed requirement. Compare that with your current balance. If reaching that Zone is your goal, keep its requirement in view while deciding whether to hatch again.
